Exposure is fully programmed off a metering cell, autofocus is handled by an active infrared system, and much of the camera's day-to-day behaviour, including its exposure readout, lives on an LCD data panel, so its main weak points with age are that electronics and the panel itself.

Common Fuji GA645 faults
Fuji GA645 LCD screen fading or blank
A dim, patchy or dead top-panel display is the fault this camera is best known for. It is a display fault rather than an exposure fault, the metering and shutter can still be working correctly underneath, but if the panel cannot show frame count, shutter speed or battery state the camera becomes hard to use with confidence. Fresh batteries do not bring it back.
Fuji GA645 won't power on
No response at all, dead panel, dead motor, points first at the batteries or their contacts before anything more serious. Worth trying a fresh pair of CR123A cells seated the right way round. If it stays completely dark on known-good batteries, the fault is in the power circuit or a contact inside the body, not something to chase further from the outside.
Fuji GA645 autofocus not working
Hunting, focusing on the wrong subject, or freezing on one distance points at the infrared autofocus module or its window rather than the lens itself, since the lens is fixed and has no separate focus helicoid drive for the owner to disturb. A smeared or obstructed AF window at the front is worth a look, but persistent misfocus beyond that is a sensor or circuit fault.
Fuji GA645 shutter not firing
A dead shutter release, no click, no film advance response, on a camera that otherwise powers up usually points to the electronic release or shutter magnet rather than anything mechanical to free off. Confirm the film is wound on and the shutter isn't mid-cycle first. If it stays silent on a fresh load, the fault sits in the shutter's electronics.
Fuji GA645 film not advancing
Since winding is motorised rather than manual, a jam or refusal to advance points at the transport motor, its gearing, or the sensors that tell it a frame has moved rather than a stiff lever. Check the film cassette is seated and the door fully latched first. Grinding or stalling beyond that is a transport fault, not a loading mistake.
Fuji GA645 exposures coming out wrong
Consistently over or under exposed frames on a fully automatic camera point at the metering cell or the shutter's timing electronics rather than anything the owner sets, since there is no manual override to mistake. Check the frame isn't shot through anything shading the lens or meter window first. A steady bias across a whole roll is an electronic exposure fault.
