Olympus OM PC shutter won't fire
Every speed on this body, manual included, is timed electronically, so it needs clean battery power to release at all. Corroded contacts or a flat cell are the usual cause and are worth ruling out first. If fresh, correctly seated batteries still give nothing, the release circuit or shutter magnet is the likely fault, and that's a bench job.
Olympus OM PC meter needle stuck or jumpy
A needle pinned at one end, jumping rather than sweeping, or drifting with no light change usually points to corroded battery contacts or a tired CdS cell rather than the meter movement itself. Checking the battery and its contacts rules out the simplest cause. A needle that moves freely but reads consistently wrong suggests the cell has aged and drifted, which needs a proper look.
Olympus OM PC shutter blades sticking or hesitating
Cameras that have sat unused for years commonly develop blades that hesitate or drag, especially at slower speeds, because old lubricant has gone gummy and is holding them back. It reads as inconsistent exposure even though the metering circuit is sound. It's a common condition on cameras this age, mechanical rather than electronic, and rarely terminal.
Olympus OM PC light leaks on film
Fogging along the frame edges, or a general softening of contrast on otherwise correctly exposed film, is the classic signature of perished foam light seals around the door and mirror box, near universal on cameras this age that haven't been serviced. It's unrelated to the shutter or metering electronics. A door seal that feels crumbly or sticky to the touch is the one thing worth checking without opening the camera.

The speed LEDs and the meter share the same power path, so a faint or absent readout often starts with the battery or its contacts rather than the display itself, the same first check as a dead shutter. With power confirmed good, a single LED that never lights regardless of light level points to a failed diode or a broken connection on the display board.
