On a compact like this, a dead camera almost always starts at the power supply, either the battery itself or the contacts feeding it, since autoexposure, autofocus and the motorised wind all run off the same circuit. A fault anywhere in that chain reads as a completely unresponsive camera. Worth trying a fresh battery first before assuming the electronics have failed.
Ricoh XF-30 lens won't extend
The lens barrier and front element are driven out by the same small motor that handles focus, so a lens that stays retracted, or extends only partway with a grinding noise, points to that drive train rather than the electronics elsewhere in the body. It is usually a mechanical fault. Confirm the battery is fresh and seated properly before ruling that out.

On an autofocus compact, consistently soft results usually trace back to the focusing sensor or its drive rather than the lens glass, since the lens itself is simple and fixed. Film transport on this camera is fully motorised, so a frame that won't advance points to the wind motor, its gear train, or the sensor tracking sprocket movement, rather than anything the user is doing wrong. It is usually a mechanical or electrical fault inside the transport itself. Check the back is shut fully and the battery is fresh before going further.
Ricoh XF-30 flash not firing
The built-in flash draws from a capacitor charged by the same battery that runs the rest of the camera, so a flash that won't fire, or fires very dim, often points to that charging circuit rather than the tube itself. A weak or old battery is the first honest suspect. If a fresh one doesn't bring it back, the fault sits in the flash circuit.
